HP VUE messaging system could not be started

Greetings

Non IT person here trying to fix a system.

When i boot the system it goes through the self checks then the console login apears and HP VUE auto starts. The software dosnt fully load and i get a messaging system error. and can only press okay in the error window which in turns shuts VUE down then  VUE auto starts again. I have no way to input a command. Someone (not me) changed the DNS address on a LAN card in the VUE software and rebooted the system and now we are stuck like this. Before the DNS address was changed the system and software booted just fine.

How can i stop the auto boot of VUE?

if in VUE how can i force it to close so i can input commands?(The only thing i can do is click OK on the error window)

what commands do i need to fix the DNS address?

also what commmands to check LAN host name?

thanks

Greg

Re: HP VUE messaging system could not be started

I'm sure there is a simpler way to do this, but you can reboot the server, wait for the "Autobooting in 10 seconds" or something similar.

Interrupt it there and type "hp-ux -is" to get to single user mode.  There you can take a look at /etc/rc.config.d/netconf to see the network settings on the system.   I think you just need to make sure a line exists in /etc/hosts containing the IP address of the server and the hostname configured and VUE should be happy.
