HP9000/816/E35 server

Hello,

I've a question: we have a E35 server and want to place it in a HA cluster: is this type of (old)server suitable for clustering? The other one is a D class server.

Hi,

Yes, you can cluster it.

Yes this is supported for an MC/ServiceGuard cluster, but you will need to ensure it has the 4 slot backplane installed.
You will also probably be able to use only SE SCSI discs, due to these slot restrictions, as you would need 2 cards fro redundancy, leaving 2 slots for networking cards for heartbeat/data.

My house is the bank's, my money the wife's, But my opinions belong to me, not HP!

Hi

D Class and E Class can work in a MC/SG Cluster.

However you may have to check the slot restrictions on both the machines.

You should also check on the memory availability on both the systems.

Also since D Class is a later Class of system and will be faster than the E Class, it can take more CPU Load. If you are having only one package running, it should run on the D Class.
