HP9000 and Cleo A+
I'm using my HP9000 to serve as an EDI/EC service center for my company. We do
direct dial connections using Multitech modems and Cleo A+ software to dial
other unix machines and PC's. We get few errors connecting to UNXI machines,
but the PC's (using Procomm) are consistently having timeout and erro checking
errors. We've tried every combination of protocols and times, without
success. The phone lines are probably not the problem since the unix-to-unix
connections are fine. Any help?

Re: HP9000 and Cleo A+
You need to purchase a manual from HP - "Configuring HP-UX for Peripherals".
Part no. B2355-90158. Call 1-800-227-8164 to order. It is worth the $20.00.
Anyway, we encountered the same problem. HP does not conform with the RS232C
standard when it comes to communications between the HP9000 mux and the modem.
The manual describes the "rules" you have to deal with.
The pin configurations are different, which will require you to purchase a
"special" modem cable from HP or make your own cable according to the specs
laid out in the manual.
Good Luck.

Re: HP9000 and Cleo A+
Thanks, we have verified that the box and cables are HP. We are using 2
MultiTech modems that are connected to the box via a 5 port HP MUX. Could that
be an issue or should we check the phone lines? The modem configs correspond
to those recommended by HP.
Thanks!
