I have a system that had printers defined in HPDPS under HP-UX 10.20. I upgraded to 11.11 and none of the prinetrs worked anymore But now if I try to open any of the HPDPS areas (supervisors and spoolers for example) I get the error: Interbal Error: Can't aquire host IP address.
I tried to create a new supervisor and spooler using pdstartsup and pdstartspl which worked after I removed the old entries from /var/opt/pd but SAM still will not work. The SAM log has nothing in it except :
Entering SAM area "Distributed Print".
What does this all mean? Even if I have to start a fresh what do I get rid of?
all I can tell you is: Nobody here would suggest to upgrade from 10.20 to 11.xx. Everybody will tell you to do a cold installation, I think it's because of that what you described.
Is your HPDPS daemons getting started at boot time? Take a look in /var/opt/pd and you should have directories for your spoolers and supervisors. See if the log files in those directories give any meaningful information.
John, yes everything seems to be starting without any errors. I can also use the command line utilities to view and change settings on the Supervisor, spooler, printers etc. although I'm not good at the manual methods.
It looks like the problem is more with SAM than the actual HPDPS but none of the other SAM areas seem to have this problem.
