HPMC warning in predictive log

The following message appeared in our /opt/pred/bin/psaction predictive support log on a K570 running HP-UX 11.0:

WARNING(RC) - 4:27 AM, 01/26/03 - HPMC(501B)
The /usr/sbin/diag/contrib/pdcinfo command could not be invoked therefore no HPMC information can be processed :U003.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: HPMC warning in predictive log

Hi Tom,

Just a guess, but have you upgraded diags or predictive on this system lately?
Could be an incompatability between the new level & the PDC.
What's your current PDC level on this K570?

Re: HPMC warning in predictive log

This error will occur if a /var/tombstones/ts99 file doesn't exist.
HWE/SupportPlus for 11.0 (Predictive version C.11.AQ), fixes the problem or PHSS_27210 11i

Re: HPMC warning in predictive log

a temporary fix could be /usr/sbin/diag/contrib/pdcinfo -no_banner >/var/tombstones/ts99 to create the ts99 file.

Re: HPMC warning in predictive log

hi,

when occured system HPMC on system, invoked the message from the system and create "ts99" in /var/tomstone
so i recommend to check under relatin file :

#vi /etc/rc.config.d/pdcinfo

-----------------------------

# PDCINFO: Set to 1 to save PDC log(s) during boot.
# Set to 0 to disable saving PDC log(s) during boot.
#
# WARNING: Disabling pdcinfo system will disable automatic saving of hardware
# logs that may be essential to determining the cause of a system
# crash.
#
# Without the above, information that could help prevent a
# system or peripheral failure will be lost. In addition, if
# a failure occurs, HP may not have the tools or data to
# diagnose the cause of the problem in a timely manner. This
# may cause increased downtime and possible future failures.
#
#
PDCINFO=1
PDCINFO_OPTS=

------------------------------
Easy going at all.

Re: HPMC warning in predictive log

If you believe the HPMC to be valid, even though you may not know what it came from - call HP support for further diagnosis.

Even if error with the PDC you can have HP update and/or fix the PDC info.

If a valid HPMC you will need HP support to fix what caused the HPMC.

Re: HPMC warning in predictive log

As you may have gathered from other answers you've received, the answer depends on other factors such as, the Predictive/Diagnostic version compatability, patching levels and presents of a ts99 file. You may need to contact HP Response Center with some of this information if the answers here don't resolve your questions.

You can tell that predictive has sent the error to HP by looking a the psaction file,
#more /opt/pred/bin/psaction
and noting if there is an RC after WARNING in the HPMC(501B) mesg. If HP had been notified, the contact person configured in the Predictive database will be contacted.

Hope this helps,
