HPUX 11.0 and 11i Differences...

I am trying to find a white paper with the differences between 11.0 and 11i. Does anyone know of the link? or can you just tell me. I am only looking for big differences. The reason I am asking is that I have supported HPUX 10.x up to 11.0. However, this system is 11i and I figure I would be able to support it as well (system admin work and scripting) as I am sure it still has all the same unix commands, etc. I just want to have the info on what is different.

Thanks a bunch!

Re: HPUX 11.0 and 11i Differences...

Hi Sally,

For your peace of mind, yes you should have no trouble supporting 11i if you have support 11.00. the 11i release notes cover all the major changes, as is available here :

http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/pdf/5187-1361.pdf

Off the top of my head, the major differences are :

11i uses Operating Environments so software managemnet is easier.
It supports partitioning (npars and vpars).
It has added hardware support (superdomes, rp series)
It has added security features
Supports Veritas Volume Manager - VxVM
Better kernel memory allocation (arena allocator)
It supports more tunable kernel parameters.

In my experience I find it a lot better than 11.00.

Regards,

James.

Yes, the release notes are the place to look.

Basically, from experience, the changes from 11.0 to 11i in terms of support are very very little. I found changing over to supporting 11i (from 11.0) very easy.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...
