HPUX 11.00 64 bit upgrade from 32 bit

HPUX 11.00 64 bit upgrade from 32 bit

Is there an upgrade procedure to go from the 32 bit HPUX 11.00 to the 64 bit version?

What is the process?

First off, what machine are you attempting to upgrade? Are you sure that it supports 64 bit?

No matter how hard you try, if your machine doesn't support 64 bit, it won't work.

Hi,

The other thing to be aware of is - do you have an EISA cards? If so you must stay at
32 bit or remove the cards. This applies to D-boxes which are otherwise 64-bit capable. e.g. D270's and up.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Hi BOB

Nothing much different ,but then you need to take normal precautions when you load OS like keeping copies of :

/etc/profile
/etc/group
/etc/hosts
/etc/inetd.conf
/etc/inittab
/etc/nsswitch
/etc/ntp.conf
/etc/passwd
/etc/rc.config.d/netconf
/etc/rc.config.d/netdaemons
/etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf
/etc/resolv.conf
/etc/sendmail.cf
/etc/services
/usr/spool/lp ... etc

And just in case you are still looking for a *procedure* there is one quite elaborate at : http://us-support2.external.hp.com/cki/bin/doc.pl/sid=48b6100013323d4551/screen=ckiDisplayDocument?docId=200000054292500

Hope it helps.
