Re: HPUX 11.00 System Crash

Hi,
the resetting SCSI are from internal controller scsi.
Did you have change the scsi terminator when you installed the new disk?
Have you restored tha old situation?

Re: HPUX 11.00 System Crash

I would go for the maintanence mode

reset your J5000 (power off/on)

Interrupt the boot process Hit the escape key when the following message appears:

Searching for a system to boot, press and hold the escape key to override

Boot from primary path and interact with isl At the menu, type: boot pri isl
Answer "y" to:
interact with ISL ?
Enter boot command At the ISL prompt type:

ISL> hpux -lm

If succesful could you post a
# lvlnboot -v

Re: HPUX 11.00 System Crash

Iâ ve just installed the new HD (Plug andâ ¦ Pray) then turned back to the previous configurationâ ¦ unsuccessfully. Now my station is just rebooting again and again,
Is there a way to check the faulty HD in another station?
Other Ideas ?

Hi,

Just follow Robert's method and try to boot the system in single user mode.

Re: HPUX 11.00 System Crash

All,
Found the root cause: The scsi terminator behind the device connected to the external scsi bus has been simply... removed! I've plugged a new "Do not touch" one, and now it works fine - Always check twice! - Thanks all for you help, it has been much appreciated - Stéphane.
