HPUX 11.00 to 11.11 Upgrade
The Upgrade plan is to export the application volume groups saving maps, save all necessary files off and reinstall the server from scratch.
My question is what do l have to save off for veritas netbackup, and how do l get netbackup working again after the upgrade it completed.
Note the client uses RMAN for Database backup.

Re: HPUX 11.00 to 11.11 Upgrade
All together, incuding re-linking the Oracle binaries, it took about 8 hours...That also included a make_tape_recovery and firmware update...
If you want my steps, I'd be happy to post them...

Re: HPUX 11.00 to 11.11 Upgrade
Because 11.00 and 11.11 are so similar, and Veritas has one version that works with both OS levels, all you should need to do is run the upgrade from 11 to 11.11.
Veritas installs its software into the /usr filesystem and the upgrade should not touch that. Just make sure there is addequate free space, because there are a few new goodies in 11.11 and there needs to be room for them.

Re: HPUX 11.00 to 11.11 Upgrade
You dont need to vgexport anything. 11.x and 11.11 are very similar. You will need to make sure that all your products get loaded again, like Mirrordisk/UX and OnlineJFS and your licenses, et al...
I upgraded 5 N-4000s earlier this year and had no problems... 2 of which had my primary Development and Testing DBs on them over 6TB of data b/t the 2 of them.
My DBAs did take a cold backup of all DBs present but that was it besides me doing Ignite for the OS as a backup. I also had netbackup run a complete backup as well.
I would make sure everything is backed up and then perform the upgrade.
