hpux 11.11 extend /?

Hey;

I'm having a brain cramp; lvol3, /, must be contiguous, yes? So, it can't be extended through the normal lvextend, fsadm/extendfs?

Thanks.

Doug

Doug,

Correct, you can use a make_tape_recovery (ignite) to restore your OS to larger filesystems.

Re: hpux 11.11 extend /?

That is correct. Can you say Ignite? There is very little reason to need a bigger / filesystem as long as you initially created it at 160MB or so (and that is generous).
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Doug,
correct. You could resize with make_recovery_tape, but it's better to remove any big files off root as a start.
If you search for "extend root", you'll find lots of attempt at doing the same.
