hi ... we recently install hpux 11.11 on our parisc server. can anyone shed some light on how to make a full system backup \ sysimage?

we do not have an external tape drive or device....but would like to make a full back up of the system and then store the back up on a different system

Hi Chad,

Ignite will rebuild the o/s but not your data ,see http://docs.hp.com/en/IUX/index.html

I'd also investigate either a backup utility such as data protector ( but it costs) or perhaps fbackup or dd *may* meet your needs see http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=234065

Re: HPUX 11.11 - making a backup

Hi Chad
for a full backup of vg00 on the network you will need an ignite server and then you can backup vg00 to the ignite server using make_net_recover.

but the the rest of your data (vg01, vg2..etc)

use other tools for it such as Data protector as per the above suggestion by Alex

Ignite is easy to setup and configure and you can do backup and restore of vg00.
