hpux 11 on R390 800

Hi,
i have to migrate my hpux 10.20 to 11.00.
I don't want to upgrade but to reinstall all.
I have this cd: hpux 11.00 additional core enhancements march 2001
PN 5011-4489
I usually used this cd to install ws 700 series, can i also use it to install this 800 series or i need a specific Cd for 800 series??
Thanks
Tarek

I dont think the additional core enhancements CD is the one you want. You want the;

hp-ux 11.0 install/update/recovery CD - latest dated July 2001 (there was a problem with earlier versions from this year).
P/n 5012-7982. This is for servers AND workstations.

Re: hpux 11 on R390 800

Hi Tarek:

The CDROM titled "hp-ux 11.0 install/update/recovery" also bears the note "core os with additional core enhancements". The latest version I have is for July 2001 (#5012-7982). This or an similar version along with the current Quality Pack (QPK) bundle (which supersedes the "GR" packaging) is what you want for a full, cold, install of 11.0.

You're right JRF!! That's it.
I have CD march 2001.
Usually after installation i add:
- xswgr - general bundle
- xswgrhw - general hardware bundle
- quality pack
Do i have it install only quality pack??

The correct procedure for a full install of 11.0 is;

1. Install from 11.0 install media. This by default includes the November 99 GR Bundle (ACE - with additional core enhancements) The ACE bundle fixes critical problems with the OS install so you definitely should let this install.

2. Install the Quality Pack Patch bundle. Again this contains inportant fixes for OS defects and third party applications. This bundle contains around 500 odd patches.

3. For the highest level of confidence in your server you should install the GR bundle also. This contains around 1500 patches. From comparing the QPK bundle and the GR bundle on the same CD the GR bundle seems to superceed the QPK bundle. The QPK bundle is a subset of the GR bundle (and contains older versions of patches). The QPK bundle is for those who dont want to install 1500 odd patches, but HP recommends it so I definitely install them.

4. After youve installed all your other hardware and applications (DB's, new lan cards, disks etc.) then install the HWCR patch bundle. Again, most patches in here will be in the GR bundle but it can contain some specific hardware patches which may relate to your setup so its recommended to install it - but after your server is all setup and ready for the users.
