HPUX-11i

I plan to move HPUX11 to HPUX11i. How about the s/w licence? Then, do I have to buy new sofware licences for that. Is there any simple methode to check the compatibility of softwares that already installed? thank u..

Re: HPUX-11i

Hi Iqbal,

It is not free to upgrade from 11.0 to 11i. Check with your HP sales representative.

The code what worked on 11.0 should work on 11i. However, the best way to verify it is to test it.

Re: HPUX-11i

Hi,

if you have support for software you have to
only buy CD with new OS and migrate licenses.
But if you don't have support you must buy upgrade option.

Re: HPUX-11i

If you have a software contract then you have the media available and therefore a license.

Checking compatability is a pain.

You must check with each and every vendor on compatability issues and required patches

Your best bet is to install cold and then re-install all your applications.

Re: HPUX-11i

Hi,

if you have a valid support contract you should get the appropriate CD's for the Update and there's no need for buying new licenses

On the first HP-UX 11.11 CD there is a program called "update-ux" with which you can check if there's any problem with the migration

Re: HPUX-11i

If you don't have the sofware covered under a support contract then you must repurchase the licenses for HP-UX and layered products. There may or may not be upgrade products.
