We've just purchased a rp5470. The os is B11.11, June 2003 release. The output of getconf HW_CPU_SUPP_BITS is 64. I was told this machine with this os would support 32/64. On our K360, running the same os, but the March 2002 release, the output of getconf is 32/64. Do I need to downgrade the version of hpux 11.11? Thanks for your help.

Solution
Whoever told you that the rp5470 would support 32 or 64 bit HP-UX lied. That machine will support *ONLY* 64-bit HP-UX. There is absolutely no way to run 32-bit HP-UX on this server.
See this document for details:

If you are concerned about your applications, you really shouldn't be. Almost all 32-bit applications will run fine in 64-bit HP-UX.
