HPUX install without console terminal
We have a new L2000 but it was delivered without a console terminal. Need to install HPUX.
Can I initiate a console session using my laptop PC, connecting to serial port? How to? Appreciate if you can give me some detailed reference material about the connection.
If you have any ideas about other ways, please let me know.
Thanks!

Re: HPUX install without console terminal
settings
bps 9600
data bits 8
parity none
stop bits 1
flow control hardware.
when system is booting up you will see a msg asking if you want to interrupt the boot sequence by pressing any key.
from here you can modify the alt path to boot from the cdrom.
once that is done just type boot alt and it will boot from the cd and start the install.

Re: HPUX install without console terminal
You need to get a straight 9 pin to 9 pin cable which has both the ends as female , there is a one which comes as a stright through cable , or you can make one using teh following pin outs
2-----------2
3-----------3
5-----------5
Now enable the hypert erminal and set the communication through com1 , to know whterh teh port is active connect the cable and at the other end short 2 and 3 and try typing some characters on the kbs , once the same is displayed your cable and the port are working fine , now connect the cable to the console port and you should be good to go.
All the best.
