HPUX system recovery

Hi,

Is system recovery through tape possible for Itanium servers?

If yes let me know the steps.

Bachur,

You need to boot from DVD.
There you can choose to recover an archive from tape.

Direct recovery from tape without DVD media is not possible for itanium servers.

Itanium servers have an EFI menu.
Can you let me know the options to choose on that menu to boot from DVD and then select tape.

Hi again,
Interupt the boot process.
Choose Boot option maintenance menu.
Choose Boot from a File.

Next you should be presented with a list of available devices. Select the EFI HW path for the device you wish to boot from, tape in your case.

You will need to boot from the installation DVD media.
Then select

-> Install HP-UX -> select Advanced Installation -> Recovery tape -> GO!
