Re: HPUX system upgrade form 11.11 to 11.23

Depending on the installed applications you may consider a cold install too.
Think about it.
it may be necessary to upgrade the OS and multiple applications - a lot of work - or cold install everything you need. This is up to you.
In every case you need to read the instructions (provided on http://docs.hp.com).

Take care, some devices and HBAs are no longer supported with 11.23 - so again, read the docs.

Hope this helps!

Re: HPUX system upgrade form 11.11 to 11.23

As I recently ran into an issue just updating from 11iv2 2004 to 11iv2 2006 I would not recommend the update path.

Cold install, it may be a lot of extra work but well worth the effort and there are a number of creative ways to to fall back in case of trouble.

Make sure to create an Ignite image. You may have to revert back.

Re: HPUX system upgrade form 11.11 to 11.23

There is NO practical way to upgrade. The versions are just too different, especially on servers. You must also obtain 11.23 compatible copies of any other applications you are running. Then cold install HP-UX 11.23, add all the patches and diagnostics, add your database and related applications and test. Then decide on replicating the test system or just follow the same steps on you production server.
