HPUX10.2 to HPUX11

Do we need any HW upgrades on the HP servers to accomplish the HPUX OS upgrade to 11.0. We are having HP9000 servers.

Hi,

That depends ! What type of system you have/hw config etc.

Bye the way never try to upgrade 10.20 to 11.00.

""ALWAYS COLD INSTALL"" in this situation.

Search this forum for upgrade issues and you will find millions of answers and questions about this.

That depends on the hardware you have! The older the hardware, the more chance it needs an upgrade. I had a E or G-model which would not go to 11.x.

There is a matrix on the HP-web which points this out for each model.

Re: HPUX10.2 to HPUX11

Hi:

The link below will assist you in planning this task. When transitioning from 10.20 to 11.0, a cold-install is recommended. The general observation of many, many people is that updates from 10.20 to 11.0 often fail whereas cold-installations proceed without trouble.

Another advantage to a cold install is that it offers your the opportunity to resize your vg00 logical volumes to your needs.

Your hardware may only support a 32-bit kernel. You will be able to ascertain this from the link below.

Please see the "HP-UX 11.0 Installation and Update Guide" (June 2002):

Re: HPUX10.2 to HPUX11

Hi,

You no need any hardware upgrade to migrate from 10.2 to 11.0.
But never do the OS upgrade(10.2 to 11.0) you wouldn't succeed. Cold install is always recommended
never give up
