Hello All,
There is a reason for my sub.
right now i'm having a very mistery problem on my HPUX 11.23 boxes one ia and the other one is pa.
Both are enabled with Vintela.
both boxes were having login issue...upon research , we found that vintela configuration has gone on the boxes and also passwd and switch files have been modified.
It's been confirmed ...it is not man made mistake.no clue what could have happened.
Anybody faced this kind of issues before?
Thanks

Solution
Shalom,
The box in question could have been hacked.
The box in question could have been damaged by an error of the systems administrator.
I recommend investigating both options.
When something changes and nobody knows why, this is a bad situation.

Re: HPUX11.23
Vintela heavily modifies HP-UX authentication so the problem is with Vintela. If you cannot login as root, you will need the manufacturer's assistance to determine how to fix the problem. Do you know that Vintela is known to work correctly on 11.23? Vintela, like any multi-platform authentication service like LDAP and Active Directory, must be carefully installed and tested. There are many failure points because authentication depends on other computers on the network. Normal HP-UX tools may not apply in this case.
