hpvm 4.0 to 4.2 upgrade

Hello, we have HP-VM 4.0 running on an 11iv3 server. We would like to upgrade from hpvm 4.0 to latest 4.2. Two questions: Is it required to upgrade first to 4.1, and then to 4.2? And where can one download the hpvm 4.1 or 4.2 software? I did swainv patch analysis, but no hpvm upgrades were suggested. Thank you

Re: hpvm 4.0 to 4.2 upgrade

Shalom,

No requirement to upgrade to 4.1.

You may have some trouble with hpsim, and have to remove the old version and then install a newer version after the upgrade to 4.2

Note that 4.0 supports Windows Server 2003 IA-64, 4.2 supports Windows Server 2008 IA-64 the last version Microsoft intends to release PA-RISC.

There is no version of HPVM that supports both Windows versions.

Thanks you, we do not have any Windows, only HP-UX. Do you know where to download this upgrade from? I can only find a Trial download from hp.com

Re: hpvm 4.0 to 4.2 upgrade

You can not download the upgrade.

The Upgrade is provided to customers with a software contract through one of the following sources:

Core OS DVD
Application DVD

The DVD's can be ordered on line at SUM, Software Update Manager on http://itrc.hp.com

If I am right, you must have used ITRC patch assessment tool.

This is used to check the patch level. It will never check your product level!!
