HPVM-Guest and VMGuestLib compatability

I have a 3.00 VM Host. This distribution of Integrity Virtual Machines version provides
HPVM-Guest A.03.00.01 and VMGuestLib A.03.00.76.01 for use on HP-UX 11iv3 clients.

I want to create September 2008 HP-UX 11iv3 guests using the new VSE operating environment.
This O/S distrbution includes VMGuestLib B.04.00 as recommended software.

Is it correct to assume that I can use the older HPVM-Guest package with the newer VMGuestLib package?

Re: HPVM-Guest and VMGuestLib compatability

Good question. I looked around and didn't find any specifics on this. The definite answer would be to open a support call to have a statement.

But there's a support matrix here:
http://docs.hp.com/en/5992-2000/ch01s02.html

It's slightly outdated so there's no mention about VMGuestLib 4.0 which will be on the Sept 2008 media. But my guess from is that support for VMGuestLib is associated with the guest, and not the host, so you'll be supported if you run a VMGuestLib which is more recent than your host. Of course doing it the other way around would be more... experimental.

I recommend you update to HPVM 4.0 when you can, there are lots of goodies in it such as AVIO, the 11.31 storage stack and a bundled-in APA.

Good luck

No more takers. Using the latest package seems to be acceptable for newer O/S. Have now upgraded to VM 4.0 so issue is mute.
