httpd memory usage
How can I find if there is any memory leak on httpd daemon?
My user stops by and tell me web server not working. I found there are 2 httpd used up a lot of memory. After I killed these 2 processes, apache is working again. Can it be memory leak at httpd daemon? Or I need to change on httpd.conf paramenter?
It is running on hp-ux 11.11 with hpuxwsAPACHE A.2.0.48.00 HP-UX Apache-based Web Server
Thanks for any advise.

Re: httpd memory usage
hpuxwsAPACHE A.2.0.48.00 HP-UX Apache-based Web Server
Plus. hpux 11.11 does not have -o option for ps
ps -ef -o pid,sz,vsz,args | sort -nr -k 2,3 | head -20
ps: illegal option -- o
usage: ps [-edaxzflP] [-u ulist] [-g glist] [-p plist] [-t tlist] [-R prmgroup] [-Z psetidlist]
dana5l2 ...hpws/apache/conf #

Re: httpd memory usage
Did you check the man page? There are several options that are classified as part of the XPG4 standard so to use -o (and -C and -H), you must temporarily set the UNIX95 variable like this:
UNIX95=1 ps -ef -o pid,sz,vsz,args | sort -nr -k 2,3 | head -20

See http://www.apache.org/ for all the changes and fixed bugs.
Consider to upgrade.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.
