Hi,
With regards to Serviceguard can someone explain the functionality of this? Do we need this for SAN HBA? Or is this just a requirement for Oracle RAC?
Thanks.

Hi,
No it is not a compulsory condition to have a hyperfabric connectivity and you can do with the standard FC connectivity for SAN and ethernet for LAN/WAN.
Basically the Hyperfabric connectivity is for applications in a cluster which can make use of this fast connectivity provided by hyperfabric instead of relying on the current ethernet technology. As per Hyperfabric claims - it also causes lesser CPU usage for the TCP/IP stack. Basically it will be useful where applications in a cluster need to talk to each other or share data and can benefit from high speed links and good topology. e.g. Oracle RAC uses cache fusion meaning it has cache in all the member nodes and that cache is made coherent accross - updated across so that all requests get updated info. For this its good to have a faster interface between the nodes only for this application - cluster interconnect.
