I can't believe yppasswd does that!

Well, I've got my first NIS server running and have had a play around with yppasswd. I was absolutely gob-smacked to find that firstly yppasswd allows 4 character passwords, but then if you type in an illegal password (e.g. "a") 2 or 3 times it just accepts it!

My gob is well and truely smacked!

I've seen postings on the forum referencing 'C' code to change the NIS password programatically (and apply more stringent checks). Can anyone point me at some sample code?

Many thanks,

Gary Cooper

Hi Gary:

I very seldom do searches but here is an answer I supplied to exactly your query and will build an enhanced and robust version of yppasswd.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
