I can't see Host name in XDMCP Display Manager Chooser window (Exceed interface)
Problem description :
I can't see anymore Host name in XDMCP Display Manager Chooser window (Exceed interface) one or two weeks after reboot of HP-UX9.07 Hosts.
This problem disappears with reboot of HPUX system and appears 1 or 2 weeks after. I tried to send SIGUP signal to Vuelogin process or execute inetd -c command without success.
Exceed Configuration : v7.1.0.0 (Windows NT4) - XDMCP-broadcast Mode
Hosts : HP-UX 9.07 with Vuelogin process (the problem only appears with this Unix system. I also have Linux and Solaris system)
Do you have any idea about this?
Thanks a lot.

Re: I can't see Host name in XDMCP Display Manager Chooser window (Exceed interface)
Hi:
Your PC should detect the host when you launch or reset eXceed. Check broadcast address, mine is set to 255.255.255.0. Or try un-checking the "use broadcast address" box. Does you host list file look OK?
Can you configure a "XDMCP-query" in eXceed to the host after reboot?
Tom

Re: I can't see Host name in XDMCP Display Manager Chooser window (Exceed interface)
To get a list of your available servers, make sure your Exceed configuration is set for Broadcast (query is for 1 host only). Make sure your xdmcp.txt file has all the correct entries defined.
Now if your connecting to your UNIX server, make certain that the dtlogin daemon is running.
I believe you can try the following to see if that will get it going...
ps -ef |grep dtlogi*
if something is there you may want to stop it and restart it clean..
/sbin/init.d/dtlogin stop
..just in case..
/sbin/init.d/dtlogin start
See if that helps..it's been awhile, since I've had this problem..
Rgrds,
