Re: i have to rlogin from solaris box to hp box
But do ensure that it enabled.
rlogin
Many people say this and I will restate, use Secure Shell instead of the r-commands

Re: i have to rlogin from solaris box to hp box
1. put both the server entries in /etc/hosts.equiv [ for trusting .]
2. /.rhosts [ put entries of the server name ]
3.# rlogin hpserver -l hpusername
Hope this will work ,
Cheers,
Raj.

Re: i have to rlogin from solaris box to hp box
If you are using host name , that must be updated in hoststable ..i.e /etc/hosts of both server.
Cheers ,
Raj.

Re: i have to rlogin from solaris box to hp box
rlogin -l
Can use the system name or the IP address.
The user_name wqould be a valid and enabled account on the remote system.
Do not need rhosts to start. Do not need the hosts.equiv to start
Just see if it will work. It most likely will. After you verified it works you can place rhosts, hosts.rquiv, /etc/hosts, entries to suit your needs.
At the very basic, rlogin does not need any additional configuration to work.

Re: i have to rlogin from solaris box to hp box
This is where the .rhosts file comes in.
On the HPUX system;
cat $HOME/.rhosts
solaris
On the SOLARIS system;
cat $HOME/.rhosts
hpux
The HPUX system is trusting the user on the SOLARIS system to rlogin without passwd. Vice versa for the SOLARIS system.
