I need to install Oracle 7.3.4 on HP-UX 10.20 on J5000.
Hi,
I need to install Oracle 7.3.4 on HP-UX 10.20 on J5000.
Does anyone know what special kernel parameters and other requirements are needed ?
Thanks,
Ron.

Hi there.
Depending on the size of your database :
Sample
Planned memory segments should cover the memory request for all instances.
Sample from a database on a K460 with 2GB mem,
SGA 420 MB and db_block:buffers 15000
shmmax 1073741824
shmmni 512
shmseg 128
semmni 2922
semmns 5844
semmnu 1457
Check for necessary patches for HP-UX.
If you need more info, just let me know.
Rgds

Re: I need to install Oracle 7.3.4 on HP-UX 10.20 on J5000.
You can get a head start on kernel parameters by using SAM. In SAM -> Kernel Configuration -> Configurable Parameters, under the Actions menu you can choose "Apply Tuned Parameter Set". Each set is optimized for a particular scenario, such as an OLTP database, and will change a large number of kernel parameters. I start with that, and only have to make small changes afterwards. Do a search on kernel parameters in this forum to see what the most important paramters are.
