i have an hp t520 and we turned off because we migrate to a new machine some months ago. Now we are trying to startup it again and sends the next message:
i/o hardware probe timed out at path 0/48.2
system panic 9245xB hp-ux (B.10.20)
panic: (display==0xbc00, flags==0x0) I/O system hang
i can??t entry in single user mode to chech the address 0/48.2.
i just have a CDROM device to try to boot from there, but i don??t know how? and what cd rom i must use to boot from?
(the core cd maybe)
i appreciate your help.
NOTE: the machine have a UPS that is damage and in some document we read that maybe is indispensable that it will be working to can boot the machine, we bypass the UPS to boot the machine.
thanks. email

Solution
Following doc suggests what would be the probable cause. Do you know what device is attached to 0/48.2 ? Check its termination/connection and make sure its scsi id (if it's a scsi device) does not conflict with other devices. In the bootadmin prompt you can enter "SEA" comand to search for the CDROM path you can boot from.

Hope it helps.

Re: i/o system hang
Javier, you can insert the "core/Install" CD into the CD drive. Then power it up and interrupt the boot by pressing enter before the 10 seconds is up. When asked to boot from primary say no and no to boot from alternate. The next question will be to interact with IPL and again answer no. You will then get a prompt asking you what you want to do. Systems are different but basically they all ask the same thing and provide you with a ? for help or type HElp etc. What you want it to do is search for a bootable device and present you with a list of what it finds. Select the CD and let it start the install. From the install menu you can select "Install" and then take the advanced option. That will run a TUI that should probe hardware etc and you can get a little better picture of what the problem is. I would guess that the boot device is no longer working or attached to the system and you will probably be reinstalling any way. You will not really write over any disks unless you tell it to, and you can terminate the Install at any time, so it is usefull for checking out the system and seeing what disks are available.
Good luck.
Good luck.
If it has wheels or a skirt, you can't afford it.
