ICEauthority Problem in HP-UX machine.

Hi,

When i try to login HP-UX machine through Reflection/X-win32. I 'm getting following error message.
---------
The Authentication file ~/.ICEauthority could not be created.
IF the files ~/.ICEauthority-c and ~/.ICEauthority-l exist, they muct be removed before your session can be started.
---------

Could anyhow identify what is problem in that.

Rgds,

Re: ICEauthority Problem in HP-UX machine.

X authorization records are stored and removed from the ~/.ICEauthority file

When you start an X session a new record is appended to it. If you have a crash, stale records can hang around ie authorization records are not removed, and if you restart a new session, there could be a chance that you would use the same socket id and be denied access.

Remove .ICEauthority* files in your home directory on the UNIX box. At next X session start it should be recreated automatically.

Hi,

I had tried removing that .ICEauthority file from home directory of one of user account and he is not root.
After restart of X session still pointing to same problem.
Let me know, Could i do it on root?

Re: ICEauthority Problem in HP-UX machine.

Hello!
Check ownership for the user's home directory and its content. It's definitely recommended to do nothing on root in user's homes because it can be the cause of wrong ownership.
