Identify a WWID on a disk

Hi !!!!

We have currently a hpux 11i node runing with SAN storage on a Hitachi 9980 Box. We need to identify a disk WWID to locate it in the Hitachi box. How can this be done or are there other ways to do it...

This are the one we need to identify in the box
disk 52 0/0/8/0/0.1.22.0.0.6.1 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HITACHI OPEN-E*4
/dev/dsk/c5t6d1 /dev/rdsk/c5t6d1

I have tried eith fcmsutil /dev/td0 get remote all, but I'm only getting the WWID of the hitachi controllers. ? Any idea..

Re: Identify a WWID on a disk

Hi Michael,

I am wondering why you would have such a need, but below is a little idea as to how to get what you want...

What RAID level is implemented in your HDS 9980? Normally it is kept as RAID5 (3D + 1P).

IN case of HDS, each RAID group is implemented using 4 disks (one from each DKU).

Now the disk (LUN) you are talking about would have a corresponding CU:LDEV number in the array side, you would need to locate it first, and then find out the raid group to which this LDEV belongs. (You would need to access the SVP in order to get these informations). Once you have these information, you may locate the PDEV (or Physical Disk locations) in the array.
