idled and idled.cf

Would some kindly admin please tell me what the idled daemon does? I know idled.cf is the configuration file for idled, but I am perplexed as to what it acutally does - specifically the "exempt" lines. My first thought is that any username listed after the "exempt" would be able to stay logged in regardless of any keyboard/terminal process - correct?

And, yes, I searched the forums for "idled" and 31 replies were returned, but as far as I could tell, none really addressed this specific point. I tried the man pages and "idled" returned nothing.

Is there something I'm missing? Can't see the forest?
