If You Can't Post Forums Replies

Some users have reported not being able to post replies to messages inside the forums. For some reason, users are directed to the proper URL, but the page contents include an error message (either 404 or TCP).

If you encounter this issue, please delete your browser's history files. This seems to clear the problem up.

Please note, many users are not affected by this -- but just in case you are, thought this would help.

I have experienced this and did the same thing which you described. The problem was resolved that time !

now if this same fix applied for when a reply can be posted, but no points get assigned, that would be something!

I had this problem almost all day yesterday. I didn't do anything to my browser at all....Today a can post replies.

However, the site is still very slow compaired to previous weeks.

odd. for me it's faster last week than the week before. however wheni had the problem on friday clearing history didn't help.
ditto on cache.

probably a microsoft problem. (the box i use to access the computers here happens to be win 2k)

Thanks for the tip, I myself have encountered this problem if I do not use the cookie option to save my password. I initally did no use this because I wanted to keep my actions on the forum seperate from the companies handle, while still being able to move from one handle to another quite easily. It turned out to be more of a pain this way.

Hi Dan,

I have had this problem today..First this morning On JRF's congrat post..it just wasn't going anywhere, no errors, just no reply from server..
Then a minute ago I wrote a nice verbose answer for this post, went back to check it and it's not there..clicked refresh and still nothing. Yet I got the second screen where it says to go back to where you were click here thing..

I had the problem for about 24 hours last week. Not only couldn't reply but couldn't use search or online help or contact my profile or logout -nothing - but I could read posts. Tried clearing the history but that didn't help. I wrote to HP and about 3 hours later it cleared but their reply received much later indicated that they hadn't done anything. They did suggest that I try entering the forum from the hp.com site instead of using my shortcut but since the problem had cleared by then I didn't get a chance to test that theory.
