ignite 11i server with 10.20 client fails

Hi

I have an ignite server running hpux 11.11. I have several machines from our lab running 11.00 and 11.11 sucessfully backed up.

I also have a J6000 running 10.20 which I am trying to add as a client.

I am running: "make_net_recovery -s igniteserv -i" from the new client, and getting an error about the ignite software versions being incompatible. Ill post the exact error in a minute.

The exact error is here:

ERROR: The versions of the tools required for system recovery on "spanok01"
are different from the versions on the server system "ignite99". To
ensure that versions are compatible, install the required toolset from
the server ignite99, using the command: /usr/sbin/swinstall -x
mount_all_filesystems=false -s
ignite99:/var/opt/ignite/depots/recovery_cmds "*"

I have tried running the swinstall command as suggested, however it complains that the ignite99 does not have any software registered, but it show from other servers

OK the swinstall part has worked now, but the make_net_recovery is still failing with the same error.

Hi Mark,

The problem is in the error message:

You have different versions of Ignite-UX software running on the client and server side.

The problem is probably that 10.20 is not supported on the version that you are running on the server

I think that you need version B.5.4 or earlier to support 10.20

Thanks for the replies but its working now. A colleague had been messing about with some application processes and must have killed something. A reboot fixed it.

We do use a separate ignite server(configured on a 10.20 server itself) for taking ignite for other ignite servers.

Could u update me what is the ignite version you have for server and client?.just for information.

We use C.7.1.93 at server which is NOT supporting the 10.20 servers.Higher vesions are not supporting 10.20
