Re: Ignite a rp3440 with a L2000 tape....
I seriously doubt it.
The CPUs between the two are very different.
The rp3440 will be running a PA8800 while the L2000 would be a PA8600 or a PA8700 at best.
That's just to wide a gulf to cross.
My 2 cents,
Jeff

If it works - GREAT! Let us know.
If it doesn't work - BUMMER! Let us know.
Ignite is designed to work on similar hardware. It has been know work on different hardware though.

Re: Ignite a rp3440 with a L2000 tape....
However, you can set up an Ignite Golden Image, which is less hardware specific. That situation is a little more like a OS install, which takes into account hardware differences but still lets you replicate a lot of your customizations.
I'd look into that path.

Re: Ignite a rp3440 with a L2000 tape....
It did not work.
The reason is descibed earlier:
L2000 is PA8700, rp3440 is PA8800.
SCSI/FC-adapters changed too.
If you're lucky, the ignition works
but the machine can not boot the old
kernel.
my 2 cents,
Armin

Re: Ignite a rp3440 with a L2000 tape....
From my experience I can say that it's actually surprising what hardware differences you can over come with a little bit of tinkering and a bit of luck. I used to work for a specialised disaster recovery firm and we regularly ignited K-classes and V-classes images on N classes and vice versa.
My advice is to update your hardware enablement patches to the absolute latest versions on your L-Class and then make the ignite tape. I can't promise that it will work but updating your hardware patches will maximise your chances.
Let us know how you go.
Cheers,
Anthony
