Ignite and cDSF
I have found tons of posts and information stating that Ignite UX does not work with cluster wide device special files, but not much details. I figure that the reason is that Ignite assumes that all DSFs are in /dev/disk (?), but my actual questions are;
a, Is there any issue backing and/or restoring the _root_ volumes of my servers with Ignite? cDSFs are only supported for shared storage so that is obviously not used for the root volumes. Using Ignite to backup /vg00 _seems_ to work fine but will there be an issue restoring from that backup since there are cDSF (although those are not backed) present on the system?
b, Has anybody seen a roadmap for support of cDSF for Ignite UX?
Environment:
# swlist | grep -i -e serviceguard -e ignite
IGNITE C.7.11.439 HP-UX Installation Utilities (Ignite-UX)
T1905CA A.11.20.00.01 Serviceguard
PHSS_41628 1.0 Serviceguard A.11.20.00
HP-UX 11.31 (obviously :))

Re: Ignite and cDSF
FYI, your version of Ignite: IGNITE C.7.11.439
is quite old. Within the same major revision (C.7), updating it to the latest version is easy and requires no reboot. However, if you are using an Ignite network server, the server as well as all the clients must be updated at the same time. Ignite is very closely tied to hardware (disk, LAN, tape drives, etc) and should be kept up to date at least every year.
