Re: Ignite Backup Error

Looks like you have now both ignite versions installed, an old and a new.

You should swremove the older version.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Ignite Backup Error

Please send output of following:

swlist -l product |grep -i ignite

It seems both old and new versions are present on this hp box.

Re: Ignite Backup Error

Yes, you have both versions now.

IMHO best solution is to remove both and install the new version again.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Ignite Backup Error

Sridhar,

Yes, suspect was true...

You have two different versions installed on your server so I would suggest you to remove older version of ignite-ux.

Once you will do it you will be able to run backup successfully!!!

Cheers!!

Re: Ignite Backup Error

Looks like you have a problem with the tape drive.

Perform this as suggested:

/opt/resmon/bin/resdata -R 202702874 -r /storage/events/tapes/SCSI_tape/0_1_1_1.5.0 -n 202702849 -a

Hope this helps!

Re: Ignite Backup Error

Do you have an internal disk in the top slot of your server?

Hope this helps!

Re: Ignite Backup Error

Torsten,

Kindly find the attached output.

If it is a disk error, it shouldn't be able to backup via tar also right.

But, it succeeds if i try:

hrdvault$tar cvf /dev/rmt/0mn /home
hrdvault$mt -f /dev/rmt/0m rew
hrdvault$tar tvf /dev/rmt/0mn

And it shows the content.

So what might be the issue here...

Re: Ignite Backup Error

The reason why I'm asking about the disk is this:

http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/tapebackup/PA-RISC/Detail/16-0024-0098.html#CONTROLLERS

"The HP 9000 rp3440 has a suitable external SCSI channel for connecting the HP StorageWorks Ultrium 960 SCSI under the following conditions:

When the HP StorageWorks Ultrium 960 SCSI is connected to the external SCSI port no other non-tape device should be attached

==> and hard disk slot ID2 must be left unused.

A 68-pin HD connector to 68-pin HD connector SCSI cable must be used. The recommended part for this configuration is the HP C2979B - SCSI cable, HDTS68, M/M, 1.5m (59in). ..."

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Ignite Backup Error

Torsten,

Thanks for the inputs!

The part number that i found on the SCSI cable is:

C2924C REV E
5183-2673
TSCH 0551

This is what i found on the cable.

I have connected this to HP Storage Works 1/8 Autoloader and i am using LTO-3 Ultrium R/W Tape.

There is no hard disk in slot ID 2.

Is these specs not compatible.

Re: Ignite Backup Error

Hi Everybody,

The issue was the absence of terminator for the SCSI Cable.

We ordered for a terminator and connected to the other SCSI Port.

Now, the Ignite is working without any trouble.

Thanks for all the responses!
