Ignite/Backup over a network .. ??

I have been looking for backup advice.
And it was brought to my attention that I can set up a differnt HP machine (No tape drive on all machines) as an Ignite/Ux Server.
What steps do I have to take to do this. And where can I find some documentation?
I am trying to back up the OS, what files are needed to be backed up? I was thinking if there was a way to back up to a .tar ball?
And to make recover load the .tar ball and open it and then the files will rewrite the old files? I need some help ..
thanks

Re: Ignite/Backup over a network .. ??

You will first need to install Ignite UX on the machine that you want to be the ignite server. You can download Ignite for free from the following web site: http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/index.html

There is also documentation there that hopefully should give you more details about how to set up and ignite server. You will need NFS running on both you Ignite server and the machine you want to back up.

The latest version of Ignite is now B.3.0 for HP-UX 11.* machines. It was just released a couple of days ago.

You will want to look at using the make_net_recovery function in Ignite.

From:
http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/
look at the FAQ and Information Library for documentation.
