Ignite C.7.2.94

We have just installed 2 new 4640 Itanium system with 2 CX300 EMCs in an HA cluster using ServiceGuard A.11.18. We also have EMC PowerPath installed on the systems. The problem we are having is when trying to create recovery tapes using make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 the creation of the tape fails with an error message:
save_config: Error - get_system_info failed to get IO information from IO listener.
ERROR: /opt/ignite/bin/save_config failed

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Ignite C.7.2.94

Bob,

I would check /var/opt/ignite/logs/ignite see where it was stucked at.

1)#print_manifest -> can it go through successfully ?

2) Run get_system_info
# /opt/ignite/lbin/get_system_info -m -N io -f /tmp/bal.listener

for your troubleshooting.

Re: Ignite C.7.2.94

The print_manifest command does indeed work and reports back the correct information. But the command string for running the get_system_info does not work. It just gives the halp for running thye command.

Re: Ignite C.7.2.94

Bob,

Question, during your make_tape_recovery is your tape drive being access by other utilities netbackup or data protector ?

as workaround avoid any netbackup or data protector access the tape drive while you perform the make_tape_recovery.

Ignite C.7.3 will be out in September to fix this issue.

Re: Ignite C.7.2.94

I have opened a call with HP this morning. I assume they will make the offer to use this newer version as needed.

Re: Ignite C.7.2.94

sorry i don't have anything to add but i would like to know if anyone still experienced the same error using the newer version of ignite? I tried to use the no rewind option, but still encountered the same error.

thanks
