ignite for b.10.20

Hi,

Can someone direct me to a location to download the ignite software for a K class server running B.10.20?

I know this is old and probably no longer supported but we need to continue using this server for now and I can not find the make_recovery or make_tape_recovery scripts on the server. I suspect it was never installed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Patti

Hello Patti Johnson,

Unless you have some old CDs laying about I think that you will not be able to download this product online...

Re: ignite for b.10.20

Hi Patti:

The 10.20 release's support ended in June 2003. The best place to find a compatible Ignite version would be from the Application CD (that I hope you have).

Regards!

Re: ignite for b.10.20

hi Patti,

If you have a DAT-3 tape device on your K server and you have to 'make_tape_recovery'
I can send you a copy of the ignite depot for 10.20. It will be on a DAT-3 'dd' format

Re: ignite for b.10.20

Thanks for the infomation, I'm supporting this client remotely, so they are looking for the CD's. If they can not be located I'll email Jim.

I appreciate the help.

Re: ignite for b.10.20

We found the cd's from March 1997, but do not see the Ignite-UX-10-20 directory on any of the cd's.

Should I be looking for something else?

Thanks,
Patti

Did you look on the Applications CDs?

Re: ignite for b.10.20

Yes, there were three application cd's none had a directory name Ignite-UX-10-20, or anything similar. Also I was not able to find a table of contents file on any of the cd's. I found a note that said B5725AA-APZ from June 2002 had A3.5.89, so far we have not found that version of the Application CD's.

Re: ignite for b.10.20

All the Install and Application CDs have a text file at the top level. The title is something like CD-Table-Of-Contents or similar. The file contains a listing of every product and is broken into sections, each covering each CD in multi-CD sets (like the DART or Application series).

Re: ignite for b.10.20

Bill,

These cd's are from March 1997, could that be before the cd_table_of_contents or Ignite was available. Attached is the contents on one of the cd's, none had a table of contents or Ignite directory.

thanks,
Patti

This looks like a depot contents. You need to use swlist on it:
swlist -l bundle -s /dev/cdrom # or whatever

This should show a description to go with the product number. It's probably one that ends with _TRY:
swlist -l bundle -s /dev/cdrom "*_TRY"

Re: ignite for b.10.20

I am not able to find the bundle with _TRY and Ignite anywhere in the name on any of the three Application CD's from March 1997.

# swlist -l bundle -s /cdrom "*_TRY"
# Initializing...
# Contacting target "mdsouth1"...
WARNING: Software "*_TRY" was not found on host "mdsouth1:/cdrom".

Oops, I was probably thinking about glance.
Just do:
swlist -l bundle -s /cdrom

Re: ignite for b.10.20

I also looked for Ignite in the complete list, it's just not there. I sent Jim an email taking him up on his offer to send a tape.

Thanks,

You may have to look at the SD products?
swlist -l product -s /cdrom

I had sent an email to Jim requesting the offered tape, but have not received it. Can anyone else help with this.

Re: ignite for b.10.20

I believe the 1997 CDs you have are too old.

I just looked at the "release_notes" for Ignite/UX on one of my 10.20 servers and the first release it shows is A.1.48/B.1.48 from July 1998.

If you can find any CD media newer than that then you may find it.

Re: ignite for b.10.20

I just found another document on my 10.20 server with this info regarding Ignite/UX:

It is provided as a bundled (free) product on the DART applications media which is currently scheduled to be released in July of 1997. It will also be available via the web at http://www.software.hp.com in midâ May of 1997.

So, the March 1997 media is definitely too old.

July 1997 or newer is required for Ignite.

Re: ignite for b.10.20

I suspected they were too old, unfortunately those are the only ones that they can locate. Is there anywhere that I can get copies of slightly newer CD's?

Re: ignite for b.10.20

Doubtful, considering HP-UX 10.20 has been out of support for a long time.
