Ignite for HP-UX B.11.00
Hi
I hope someone can help.
We have an HP9000 server with version B.11.00 of Unix and looking to see if
1. Ignite is already installed, I have run the swlist but no mention if it. However a directory structure exists but doesnt look like much is there. /opt/ignite and /var/opt/ignite. What command would you use to execute ignite, since not sure if someone in the past attempted the install but never completed.
2. If it isn't installed where can I find a copy, been looking everywhere and cannot seem to find it for download.
Thanks

Re: Ignite for HP-UX B.11.00
1.) "make_tape_recovery" is probably the Ignite command you want for such an old system.
(Really old versions of Ignite may have "make_recovery" instead.)
2.) You know HP support for HP-UX B.11.00 ended at the end of year 2006, right?
For B.11.00, you'll need Ignite version C.7.2 or earlier (i.e released 06/2007 or earlier).
HP support for Ignite version C.7.2 ended at the end of September 2009...
If you have a HP-UX media kit from 06/2007 or earlier, it is likely to include a version of Ignite that is useable for HP-UX 11.00. HP only distributes supported versions on their web pages. Since Ignite is still copyrighted software and HP has not granted anyone else permission to distribute it, it would be unlawful and certainly a support agreement violation to have it available in some random non-HP website. However, buying & selling media kits is apparently OK, with the assumption that you have your regular HP-UX licenses in order.
If you cannot find an old HP-UX media kit (either from your own archives, or from eBay or similar), but you have a HP-UX support agreement, you might have to call/email your HP-UX support and ask very very nicely if they still have an old HP-UX 11.00 Ignite-UX in their archives, and if it would be possible to receive a copy of it.
