Ignite from rp5470 to N4000?

Has anyone tried an Ignite/Make_Recovery from a rp5470 machine and install it on a N4000?

I am attempting with out success. I am not sure If a firmware upgrade may help or if the machines are different enought that it is just not possible?

Re: Ignite from rp5470 to N4000?

Hi Ron,

This one's a toss-up, I'd say. It would boil down to the processor type.
The rp5470 could have up to an 875 MHz PA8700+ whereas the N4000 could have down to a 360 MHz PA8600
And that combo would probably fail.
But if they were both PA8700 systems, that would probably work. Maybe even a PA8700 -> PA8600 would work as well.
So determine the speed & CPU type of both.
Regardless being up-to-date on FW is always a good idea in this respect.

The rp5470 are 875mz and the N4000 are 550mz

Re: Ignite from rp5470 to N4000?

Yep - that N-class 550 MHz system is in fact a PA8600 so this probably will not work.
But you can always update FW to latest & give it a shot. But I really think the kernel will be different enough to not load on the N-class.
