Re: Ignite image
it does seem alot to ask for, but that depends upon the archive trying to be created. Something that size is going to take a long time to create and restore if needed.
Ignite is really meant just to create a system image of just you system and some software and config files, not your whole system and your users home directories full of there data for example.
what was the command used? useful to know what was included or excluded from the archieve? and also the size of the system your archiving?

Re: Ignite image
/opt/ignite/bin/make_net_recovery -s
This command.
My requirement is in case of system crash I should be able to recover it using this system image. I dont want to backup user data but I want to backup all the system config and the drivers that has been installed for SAN devices etc.
I short my system should be ready fro use and from there user can start restoring his data which is backed up on the tape devices through netbackup.

This seems the main purpose of ignite.

Re: Ignite image
A typical Ignite network server will have a separate disk volume for /var/opt/ignite, perhaps 200 to 500 GB. While you can save just one Ignite image, you may benefit from having at least 3 or 4 copies, especially when patching or significantly changing your system.

Re: Ignite image
Most of the time /home is huge size in that case you can exclude /home and take the ignite backup and take /home backup separately into other tape or other media.
make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -x exclude=/home
