Ignite/make_recover

I just rec'd a new L1000 and want to make an ignite tape w/ make_recover. But the command is nowhere to be found on the new system. What do I need to do?

Re: Ignite/make_recover

Joe:

You need to install Ignite. You can download it (and documentation!) from here:

http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/index.html

Installation does not require a reboot, but you should logout and login again, since your PATH will be updated by the installation process.

Re: Ignite/make_recover

hI,
the make_recovery will be in /opt/ignite/bin. You set the PATH to point /opt/ignite/bin.

Install "minimum runtime" of Ignite on your L1000

Re: Ignite/make_recover

To create a System Recovery tape, at the default device let say /dev/rmt/0mn, and include the entire root disk in the archive.... run the ff:

# make_recovery -A

Re: Ignite/make_recover

None of my servers have had ignite installed - the only thing under the /opt/ignite/bin directory was the print_manifest, so I had to load install it from the Applications CDs. You can also download it from:

http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/index.html

Good luck

Re: Ignite/make_recover

Thanks. I have downloaded the software (ignite11_11.00.tar). I'm not sure how to install it now. Can't find good installation information (swinstall?). Please advise.

Thanks for your efforts!

Re: Ignite/make_recover

Joe:

put the file in say /tmp directory and issue the command:

swinstall -s /tmp/ignite11_11.00.tar

and follow the prompts.

Good luck.
