Ignite over Firewall (install, make_new_recovery)
Hi,
I am planning a secure administration lan at a customers site and may be wanting to install a central ignite server inside (behind a firewall), which is then responsible for three different LANs on the outside.
The Ignite Server is then to be used for installation, but also for recovery.
I am aware, that it is necessary to use boot helpers to cross the networks, if I want to install from that server.
My questions:
1. Is there information on the ports available, that the ignite server uses
a) for installation?
b) during make_net_recovery?
2. Is the ignite server needed at all during a "make_net_recovery", or can I use a different server (ie. the boot helper)?
3. Has anybody ever tried this? Experience?
Oh, and don??t take the term "firewall" too serious. It is used for extensive system administration, so there are already a number of ports open from ether direction...
Thanks a lot,
olaf.

Security is not a solution, but a lifestlye.

Re: Ignite over Firewall (install, make_new_recovery)
Olaf:
To do "swinatll" across the firewall, you need to specify the ports to be used by SD. Just do a search of Technical documents on ITRC. You should be able to find them. To ignite or make_net_recovery, you will also need NFS traffics to be open on the firewall.
I think ignite server is needed during the make_net_recovery.
Hope this helps.
