Last day I took a ignite backup of our production server using the command make_tape_recovery and got some warning messages(see attached file). This is asking for the two patches to be installed. I want to know the significance of the patches and also if the it requires reboot.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Re: ignite patch
Goto patch database in itrc.com :
http://www11.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/mainPage.do?admit=109447626+1216642906309+28353475
And search for those patches. You will get all info about them also if they require reboot or not too.

Re: ignite patch
The first patch listed (PHCO_30150) is fairly old (2004) and does not require a reboot.
The second patch (PHCO_32438) is a year old (2007) and also can be applied without rebooting.

Jonathan

Re: ignite patch
Thanks for the reply.
I would like to know whether these patches are really required to be installed. And also what about the backup which i have taken.

Why would you quibble with the requirement to install a patch that is required by software that protects your system?
As noted, install the patch that matches your operating system version. No reboot is required!
I would install the appropriate patch and redo the Ignite backup. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing right.
Regards!

Re: ignite patch
When you are creating a Recovery Backup, I would think that having some files incorrectly archived would NOT be one of your goals.
Install the appropriate patch.

SolutionIf you notice 2 lines at the top of the document like:
The recommended patch is : PHCO_35998
The most recent patch is : PHCO_35998
This mean that the most recent patch with this same functionality is PHCO_35998. It also means that HP recommends that you use PHCO_35998 rather than the old patch.
Info on PHCO_35998 here:
http://www11.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/patchDetail.do?BC=main|search|patchDetail{PHCO_32438,{hpux:11.11,}}|&patchid=PHCO_35998&sel={hpux:11.11,}
