Ignite Recovery Tape Gives Status=-7 Error
I'm trying to recover a system with a DAT tape to my C110 workstation with a DDS2 tape drive. The tape itself is a 4mm-DL 90M from Verbatim and was generated from a J210 with similar memory and drive space. The tape is also known to work on a B180L.
I boot the machine, hit space to go into the menu, type SEA to find the Tape drive (P1 core.SCSI.3.0 HPC5133A) and type:
BO ALT P1
IPL: N (whatever IPL means)
I get the message:
Failed to Initialize
ENTRY_INIT
[4 lines of memory dump]
Status=-7
If I type:
BO P1
Booting...
Boot IO Independant Code (IODC) revision 0
I get the message IPL Error: Bad LIF magic.
Any suggestions?

Re: Ignite Recovery Tape Gives Status=-7 Error
Hey
I had the same problem.
The error message means the tape address is ok but the device is not responding.
Do you have another tape you can try?

Re: Ignite Recovery Tape Gives Status=-7 Error
I have been lead to believe that the tape is corrupted. I have to get another copy, no easy task.
