ignite recovery
i checked the tape with the following commads:
mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn rew
mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn fsf 1
tar tvf /dev/rmt/0m
now i'd like to boot from the tape. At which position should place the tape to be able to boot from it ?

Its better to rewind the tape.
But still you can boot directly it will automatically.search for boot block.
And will boot the machine.

Insert the tape into drive. boot the system. Interrupt boot process and search for bootable media using search. Choose Tape from bootable media listed using boot command.
Then you will have menu for system recovery from tape. Continue as you need.

Put the tape on tape drive and boot the machine then u asked for interrupt the boot process.
press enter to interrupt
then ask for manual booting
then put the command "sea" which will search the boot device
here u can see the output which will indicate the tape device. then press boot
