Ignite server and have to remove files and gzip and make_sys_image command failed

I have a problem. I am running ignite 4.4.30 with hpux 11i on my server. My clients are hpux 11.0 - 11.i. Now, when I got to create archives on clients I am suddenly getting the famous gzip: stdout error with the make_sys_image command failed error. This happens with all servers that I attempt to backup. This was working fine at one point. After working on it for a bit, I went and decided to delete some old archives, I did so, and suddenly I can create an archive without an error. I went to create another archive after that and It failed. I went and deleted another archive and now it works again on a different server. Here's the part that gets me confused, the file system is not full. It has large files turned on(as far as I can tell). The file system still has like 30gb free. At first I thought it was a gzip problem or a problem with one client but after I realized that other clients were not working, I started looking at the server. Also, creating the archive does NOT fill up the filesystem.... Anyone have any ideas???

Thanks

I need to see the actual error message.

This version had some problems archiving files with unusual characters in the name.

Delete the file, the archive works.

Re: Ignite server and have to remove files and gzip and make_sys_image command failed

Here's the output. This error occurs across all different type of machines, etc... As soon as I delete an archive of any server, it will work..... after changing nothing on the client

Thanks for the Help

Re: Ignite server and have to remove files and gzip and make_sys_image command failed

Jeff,

I have looked at that thread several times. The only part I haven't checked was the PAX trace. This happens on many servers, regarless of patch level, etc. It can always be resolved by deleting some archives and freeing' up some space on the filesystem holding the archives... even though I still have 30gb free... I really think it's a problem ont he ignite server, since it will fail, but if I just delete files and don't change anything on the clients and re-try they work....

Thanks
