Re: Ignite server ITANIUM+PARISC
First thing we did here was to move our ignite servers to 11.31.

SolutionAs for the actual problem, It appears that you have not installed the 11.23-specific IGNITE product bundle, but only the 11.11 one. This is indicated by the "ll" command output above showing only the Rel_B.11.11 directory listed under /opt/ignite/boot. You need Rel_B.11.23.
The naming of the IGNITE bundles can be a bit confusing. The names of the bundles indicate which OS releases you wish to manage, not the version of HP-UX running on your Ignite server. If you have the available disk space, just install the IGNITE bundle and you will get the installation tools for all supported releases.
To clarify, an 11.11 server with the IGNITE bundle installed can install 11.11, 11.23, and 11.31. That same server with the Ignite-UX-11-31 bundle installed instead of IGNITE will ONLY be capable of installing 11.31, not 11.11 or 11.23! This is summarized in Figure 2.1 of the Ignite-UX Administration Guide.

Re: Ignite server ITANIUM+PARISC
If you install Ignite Server you have to assure you have placed all HP-UX releases filesets if you plan to install clients with different HPUX versions.
In order to be able to communicate with HPUX 11.23 clients, Ignite Server has to have Rel_B.11.23 toolset installed.
When downloading Ignite from software.hp.com you can choose the bundles for the HP-UX version to download.

Re: Ignite server ITANIUM+PARISC
Based on your original question, you need the install utilities for 11.23 on your 11.11 box.
Once installed, you should be able to perform all normal Ignite operations on the 11.23 boxes.
I really like the last two posts to confirm the software is present. Follow them carefully.
This doc may be of some utility to you as well.
