Ignite stop at Scanning system

I am trying to ignite a new install but it has been sitting at scanning system for awhile, any suggestion?

* Configuring RAM filesystems...
* Scanning system for IO devices...

Re: Ignite stop at Scanning system

Shalom,

Ignite is looking for a disk to install on.

It is not finding any. I would suspect a disk problem.

Re: Ignite stop at Scanning system

but the system originally has an OS and I see all internal disks are claimed. I can boot to the original OS without any issue.

Re: Ignite stop at Scanning system

Is the version of Ignite older than the hardware model you're trying to install to?

Perhaps the Ignite installation kernel does not contain the drivers required to access the disks on that system.

Ignite version: C.7.9.260
and client is RP7410. I just did the same ignite on another system with the same hardware without issue.

Re: Ignite stop at Scanning system

Some time ago I installed a system with 40 FC and 50 LAN ports - most without a cable connected at this stage. Every scan (first from EFI then from kernel) took ages ... up to 30 minutes.

So if you have an open SAN port or even a connected SAN without a presented device the scan could take a long time. The same happens if you have problems on the SCSI bus (e.g. with termination).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
